I didn’t know much about this guy, but I did like how he took care of our girl.

Eric Perez.

I wonder if these two younglings had the slightest clue that their parents worked hand in hand. I’d do more research on this boy, but from what I saw, he cared about my little princess.

Vivian began to feel safe with him. I saw it in how her shoulders relaxed whenever he entered a room. She was falling for him, but who was he?

That was my job to figure out.

I wouldn’t let anyone into her life without knowing more. Eric liked my princess. I could handle that, but he also better know what comes with loving the secret princess.

My phone rang as I followed his car down the back roads. He had no idea. He had a pretty girl in the passenger seat of his truck. That would be enough to make any guy forget the dangers that lurked around.

Vivian hadn’t been home yet to see what I put into her mailbox. Though, she needed to have some fun before the information she’d soon discover.

I felt like a jerk for what she was about to find out, but she needed to know what I did. Not many knew of my people, but we were once the sole protectors of her kind.

Much like the snake royalty, not many of us were left after we had been hunted. We were considered poisonous bastards.

My Little Princess didn’t make me feel that way. She’d be home soon enough to find out a few things, for her to grasp what would lie ahead.

For now, I appreciated the mechanic for giving her a glimpse of a normal life. Vivian would never have one with what the future held for her.

My phone rang. When I picked it up, I found my boss’s mysterious voice on the other end.

“How has she been?” he asked.

“Right now, she is on a date with the local mechanic.”

“Eric?” Once he spoke his name, there was no undoing what he told me.

“How do you know him?” I inquired.

“That isn’t important. Where is he taking her?”

“The fair.”

“Good. Okay. Keep a close eye on her. I’ll be in touch with you soon.”

When he hung up, I knew I wouldn’t be following my favorite girl, tonight. Mr. Perez just became the prime of my picking.

I had an inkling that told me to follow him if they separated. Call it intuition, but if my boss knew his name by me saying the local mechanic, it meant my boss was a local.

Now, I just had to figure out which one. I had to figure out how someone here knew my girl. She wouldn’t be safe until then.

I had to keep her safe. That was my only goal.

She might’ve just been a paycheck, but now she was my queen. One day, the world would remember why the Draca line meant something.

I just had to get her there first. Her survival rested on my shoulders.
